Session 13 5/11/18

It’s good to be back:

After a nice, relaxing midterm, it was time to get back into the action again, and we went straight into it. Sadly, the morning didn’t go too well. My bus at Howth Junction came a bit earlier than usual, so I ended up missing it. While I was slightly panicking at first, I decided to walk to Coláiste Dhúlaigh. I am happy to say that I just about made it to class on time.

We started off by pairing up to discuss our summary sentences. I was with Sheila, and we both talked about our topic. I didn’t exactly do the task correctly, as I missed the last hour of the previous session, but luckily, everything went well. We then all told our summary sentences to Dave.

Dave talked to us about the introduction for our article. He said it is key to get and to keep the reader’s attention. He also gave us a sheet on how to structure our paragraphs properly. He then told us about “Strunk and White”. This is when you use the active voice, put statements in positive form, use definite, specific, concrete language, omit needless words, and get the right tone and voice. We will all follow this writing style.

It was then time to get started on our articles by typing them up on WordPress. Brace yourselves, our articles are coming…soon…

Since last session:

Not much has happened since the last session. However, I did watch This is the End again, and it gets me every single time. Danny McBride is simply brilliant in the movie. I recommend it if you haven’t seen it already.

Jonah Hill This is the end

It was also beautiful seeing Manchester United making a late comeback and winning against Juventus in Turin.

Lastly, there was an emotional episode in The Walking Dead on Monday night. I won’t say what happened, but if you want to find out yourself, then just click on the sentence above.

Update on tasks:

As mentioned above, we began working on our articles. I have fulfilled the tasks outlined in the project management plan. I must have this blog completed, so I am on track to meet the next deadline. I am happy to say that I was not under any time pressure to complete this blog.

Risks/Issues:

There was one small issue about writing the article that I had. I mention the word anxiety in my article, a word that is mentioned a lot, so I wasn’t too sure how to explain it, with relation to my topic. I told Dave about this, and he helped me significantly. Consequently, I managed to form the sentence that had the explanation of anxiety.

Problems:

Again, there was just one small problem, and I already mentioned it above and maybe predicted it in my previous blog. I did not do the exact task for this session. However, Dave said this was fine, so everything was okay.

New ideas and global changes:

I have not thought of any new ideas and no changes have been made to the project management plan this session.

Personal Reflection:

It was daunting at first when I encountered barriers at first, but I tried to remain calm and ask Dave for help. I hope I have performed to a good standard and I also hope that I contributed to the class. For next week, I could try to improve on my predictions with the bus. However, I can not guarantee this, as the 17A continues to surprise me all the time.

Before next session:

I must complete this blog before the next session. I believe it will not take much longer as I am sadly nearing the end of it!

Deadlines:

I am extremely happy to say that I am on schedule with my work, according to the project management plan.

Tutor:

I have no comments that I need addressed by Dave, but I will make sure to let him know if I do have any queries.
