It’s good to be back…
Well, here I am again. You may notice that I skipped the number ‘5’. The reason for that is because for session 5, we did a presentation in front of the class, and not a blog. It’s always fun to mix it up every now and then! Of course, I would never abandon WordPress. Now, let’s get straight into it and discussed what happened in this session!
The day of the presentations:
We were given the task to do a slideshow and present it to the class. In it, we would mention our experience of collecting secondary research. I was looking forward to it, yet slightly nervous at the same time. Everyone did fantastic in their presentations, and I want to say thank you to Matthew for using the computer mouse while I was presenting my slides. I returned the favour, which was a huge honour. Dave wrote down his thoughts of our slides and gave them to us. Unfortunately, during our presentations, the internet went down. We feared for the worst as some people wouldn’t be able to present their slideshow, but luckily, not all hope was lost, as we put the slides into a USB key, and were able to open them through the computer. Once we all finished our presentations, the class was over, and it won’t be until Monday, the 8th of October, 2018, that we set foot in the individual project class again.
Since the last session:
As we approach the 8th of October, a lot has happened since our last session, especially in sports. Manchester United doing who knows what to my heart, Khabib making Conor McGregor tap out in what was quite a violent end to the UFC match, and Leinster beating Munster in a packed Aviva Stadium. There was also some emotional news too, as Scott Wilson, who played Hershel in one of my favourite shows, The Walking Dead, passed away.

In terms of college, I made a surprise return to Belvedere College, my secondary school. It may be a bit early but I started to think of my primary research for my project and what I was going to do. I decided to go back to Belvedere and ask a fellow teacher if I could do a survey and give it out to the students. She gave me the go ahead, so it’s time to prepare for the survey!
Update on tasks:
I completed my slideshow on my experience of collecting my secondary research. I am now doing this blog which will be completed before the next session. I am currently on track to meet the next deadline and I have fulfilled the tasks that are outlined on the project management plan. I also had time to complete these task and I was not under any pressure.
Problems:
I am happy to say that I did not have any problems in this class. In my opinion, everything went smoothly. I also didn’t have any risks nor issues.
New ideas and global changes:
There was a change to the project management plan. Dave originally said that he was not able to make it to the session on the 8th of October, so we were going to just have a full class doing more secondary research. However, we got an email from him saying that he would be able to make it. We will still be doing secondary research in the class, just to finish up with it and see if we want any more in our secondary research blog.
Personal Reflection:
As I said above, it was a bit daunting to get up in front of the class and present my slideshow. However, after doing the presentation, I thought it went really well and I was extremely happy afterwards. I hope I have performed to an acceptable standard in this session! The only help I gave to a peer is scrolling the mouse down for Matthew as he was doing his presentation, as he kindly did the same for me. I hope there will be more moments in the future! While I do get my work completed on time, I have a habit of leaving it quite late. I hope to break this by going to the library more often, as there are less distractions there.
Before next session:
I need to complete this blog before the next session, which shouldn’t take that much longer as I am sadly nearing the end of it.
Deadlines:
I am happy to say that I am currently on schedule, according to the project management plan!
Tutor:
I noticed that Dave wrote down on his feedback sheet for me “Is mental health too vague?” I will discuss this with him in the next session. Other than that, everything is going well at the moment!
It’s been a pleasure doing this blog and there are bound to be more in the future, so see you soon!
